Departure Day

Today’s the big day, but I’m not too enthusiastic. I’m very excited to be spending 8 months in France, but I have at least 24 hours of travel before I get there. While Wichita Midcontinent Airport isn’t very glamorous, it is quite efficient – I was able to go through security at 12:20 for my 12:45 boarding time. In Chicago, I had to go through security again since I was changing from a domestic flight to an international one. To make sure that I had enough time, I went through right away – and walked past all of the delicious restaurants in the terminal. On the other side of security, there was nothing but the normal snack stands. I read the New York Times, wrote out a list of goals for my stay in France, and leafed through a sociology book I’m reading.
